Tokyo, Japan and Luleå, Sweden: Infostellar and Arctic Space Technologies announced today the ambition to establish and host an Infostellar 7.3 m antenna system at the Arctic Space ground station in Piteå, Sweden. This strategic critical location, only 130 km south of the Arctic Circle, will add 8 - 10 contacts for polar earth orbiting satellites to Infostellar’s ecosystem of Ground Stations as a Service (GSaaS). Through the integrated data center services, real time processing and delivery of downlinked earth observation data will be enabled.

We are very pleased to announce this intention of collaboration with Arctic Space.  Their location in Piteå and capabilities suit our polar ground station needs exceptionally well.  In addition to being an important strategic location for Infostellar, Benjamin and his team at Arctic Space are demonstrating exceptional foresight and professional entrepreneurship that organizations like ours need to drive a more effective GSaaS industry,

said Tom Pirrone, Infostellar’s Chief Strategy Officer. Pirrone added,

Infostellar is on a glide-path towards significantly reducing the cost and schedule for satellite operators to gain access to global GSaaS.  In many locations our impetus is to engage existing antenna capacity to meet our client’s needs, however, certain locations around the world simply require company-controlled antennas.  Northern Scandinavia is one of those regions.

Infostellar recently announced a significant technical achievement in servicing an undisclosed suite of SAR satellites from a partner station in Canada.  Adding services in Northern Sweden enables the company to expand its cloud-based GSaaS services for SAR and other geospatial and remote sensing applications through this partnership.

Arctic Space Technologies is pleased to have signed this declaration of intent and to continue work closely with Infostellar on this future expansion project. We have the location, knowledge, and resources to continue expanding our ground station activities, and by signing this declaration we take the next step becoming a key and critical Hub of operations for many remote sensing applications. Being flexible, efficient, and having the customers' needs in focus together offering cost-effective sustainable and highly secured services has shown to be something many collaboration partners appreciate.”

said Mr. Benjamin Fischer, CEO Arctic Space.

Pirrone further stated,

“Our plan is to do further assessments together with Arctic Space with the ambition to sign an agreement for hosting and have the site operational in late 2021. We look forward to our continued collaboration with Arctic Space to achieve this key strategic objective.”
